Starting in Funding Year 2026, the FCC’s final Eligible Services List clarifies that manufacturer software and remote support services—including operating system updates, patches, bug fixes, TAC, and remote configuration—are no longer categorized as Basic Maintenance (BMIC). These services are now eligible under Internal Connections, aligning them with subscription licensing. As a result, Extreme’s TAC & OS support (including 97000-level support) may be funded under Internal Connections for multi-year terms, rather than being limited to one-year BMIC. While BMIC remains eligible for true on-site maintenance and physical repair work (such as break/fix, cabling repair, and in-person configuration), Extreme’s hardware, software licensing, and support should generally all be treated as Internal Connections for FY2026 and forward.
